Randall Dunn - Head of School at Rye Country Day School

Since 2022, Randall Dunn has overseen all daily operations and academic policies as the Head of School at Rye Country Day School in Rye, New York. He reports directly to the board of trustees on matters of academics, administration, policy, and finances. Meanwhile, his daily responsibilities involve the oversight of nearly 970 students and more than 200 faculty and staff. As the Head of School, Randall Dunn has driven numerous strategy initiatives and curricular transformations, in addition to managing a successful $125 million capital campaign, by far the largest in the school’s history.

Randall Dunn previously spent over a decade as the Head of School at Latin School of Chicago, an independent pre-K-12 facility with upwards of 1,200 students and 250 faculty and staff. He advanced the school’s diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts, adopted Yale University’s social and emotional wellness program, and executed a $50 million endowment campaign, among other accomplishments.

As a graduate student at Harvard, Randall Dunn focused his studies on the achievement motivation of African-American students. Before earning a master’s degree in human development and psychology, he presented a paper to Education Development Center, Inc., that explored racial identity development in African-American youth at public schools compared to private schools. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Brown University.
